Some 28.2% of the students want to be entrepreneurs and set up their own business, while 43.6% of those surveyed have business ideas, so we can conclude that the entrepreneurial spirit should be encouraged at this age, since 85.2% believe that training in entrepreneurship, technology and communication should be included in all high school programs. In addition, the majority (74%) believe that academic qualifications do not adequately reflect professional ability, and this perception is increasing every year.
Furthermore, 52.3% believe that the training they have received does not enhance their creative and innovative capacity, although 47.7% do value the training they have received in these skills. A large majority (85.4%) also believe that Artificial Intelligence will have a negative impact on employment, replacing professional profiles and reducing job opportunities.
These are some of the conclusions of the E 2024 Report: Perspectives of Secondary Education students (4th ESO, 1st and 2nd Bach) on future employability and labor market (13th Edition) is the result of the project that every year is launched by the institutions that make up the Training and Higher Education Campus of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville.
Specifically, 4,129 students (mostly high school students) from 67 centers in the provinces of Seville (53 centers), Cordoba (11 centers), Cadiz (2 centers) and Huelva (1 center) participated in the study. The fieldwork was carried out between January and May 2024. Among some of the factors analyzed were beliefs about the business world and entrepreneurial culture, the importance of acquiring essential professional skills for their professional life or the impact of artificial intelligence on employment.
