Post: La Fábrica de Sevilla recognizes young talent with ‘The Big Idea’ awards

The winner is ‘Workea’, an app that promotes freelancers, and an app that detects cyberbullying and a software that designs furniture.

The Big Idea is a contest for young talents that seeks to promote the entrepreneurial capacity of high school, middle school and vocational training students. More than 70 projects have been presented in this year’s edition.

This contest is one of the programs carried out by La Fábrica de Sevilla, a public-private initiative promoted by the City Council of Seville and the Chamber of Commerce of Seville together with successful entrepreneurs, which arises to unify the ecosystem of technology startups in the city and capture and retain the talent that already exists in Seville.

The best project developed in the contest was ‘Workea’, an application developed by students of the Colegio Buen Pastor that facilitates the promotion of freelancers, allowing customers to search for local services, view valuations and manage communication and possible complaints for non-payment in a secure way.

Also recognized were the projects ‘HELP! -CIBERBULLYING’, a mobile application by a student of Escuelas Profesionales De La Sagrada Familia-Fundación Peñaflor (Écija) to help parents detect if their children suffer cyberbullying, and ‘Nook Architect’, an artificial intelligence software proposed by a student of IES Albero that, with basic data of your space, proposes optimized furnished designs and suggests the best furniture at competitive prices.

In addition, there were prizes for the most creative and innovative ideas in each of the challenges proposed by both public and private companies, and for the most voted projects on the contest website.

During the event, the entrepreneur and alumni of the Campus of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville, Alejandro López, inspired the attendees with his professional career, telling how he went from being a tour guide to a technology entrepreneur, highlighting the job opportunities of entrepreneurship in the field of technology and encouraging attendees to develop their skills to found startups capable of changing the world from Seville.

The students received a diploma of participation in recognition of their efforts, and the collaborating centers were awarded a diploma for their commitment to the entrepreneurial training of their students.

All these students will also participate in the second edition of La Fábrica de Sevilla’s ‘Summer Emprendedor’ program, an intensive entrepreneurship program that will take place the last week of June, where participants learn to develop a startup from scratch guided by expert mentors in order to enhance their technological entrepreneurial skills and provide them with tools and resources to promote their projects.
