Toggle-La Fábrica de Sevilla, an initiative promoted by the Seville City Council, the Seville Chamber of Commerce and Founders Seville, has once again brought together Seville’s technology startup ecosystem.
The event took place yesterday at the offices of Marqués del Contadero and was attended by more than 200 people related to technological entrepreneurship and the startup world in Seville to listen to Borja Vázquez, founder of the Sevillian company specialising in fashion, Scalpers.
The founder spoke about the experience of creating Scalpers from its origins, the process of creating a large company from our city, the obstacles he faced and how he tackled each of the critical levers to reach the current situation.
Scalpers was born in Seville in 2007 and since then it has not stopped growing and achieving new milestones. Last year 2022 the company had a turnover of more than 150 million euros, increasing its revenues by 36% compared to the previous year. It currently has more than 280 points of sale and is focused on international expansion.
Last Thursday’s event was attended by Álvaro Pimentel, Delegate for Economy, Innovative Parks, Cartuja, Employment and Commerce of the Seville City Council, who highlighted the commitment of the City Council to promote projects focused on promoting entrepreneurship and the creation of companies, with the aim of strengthening the business fabric and positioning the city as one of the main economic powers at national level.
After the presentation by the founder of Scalpers, a fireside chat took place with David Troya -Ikono– and Juan Martínez-Barea -Universal Dx-, in which they chatted about their experiences in entrepreneurship and which gave way to a round of questions where the attendees were able to resolve their concerns.
In addition, attendees had the opportunity to get to know each other, share experiences and establish synergies during the networking organised after the talk. This is a key moment to strengthen ties between the entire ecosystem and to encourage the strengthening of relationships between members that can lead to the creation of new technological startups.
Startup Talks are held once a month and are an essential event for anyone belonging to the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. After almost a year of carrying out this activity on a monthly basis, it has already consolidated itself as a reference event to which more than 300 people have signed up in this last edition.
At La Fábrica de Sevilla we have been developing programmes and activities focusing on technology entrepreneurship since last October 2022, with the objective of promoting the projection of technology startups, training young students, attracting and retaining talent in the city, and attracting startups and digital nomads to Seville..
