Post: La Fábrica de Sevilla holds the prize-giving ceremony for its competition for young entrepreneurs The Big Idea

The Big Idea is a competition for young talents that seeks to promote the entrepreneurial capacity of high school, middle school and FP students in Seville, and in which more than 140 students have participated.

This activity is part of the activities planned by La Fábrica de Sevilla, a public-private initiative promoted by the City Council through the Municipal Corporations (CEMS) and the Chamber of Commerce of Seville together with successful entrepreneurs, which aims to unify the city’s technology startup ecosystem and capture and retain the talent that already exists inherently in Seville.

Antonio Muñoz, Mayor of the city, presented the prizes to the winners, recognising the best ideas born from this competition and identified by the jury as potential future successful technological startups. The prizes for the next six best ideas were awarded by Francisco Páez, Delegate for Economy, Commerce and Tourism; Carmen Castreño, representing the Corporation of Municipal Enterprises and Ignacio González, Director of Economy of the City Council.

The mayor highlighted the importance of this type of initiative, which promotes and develops the entrepreneurial spirit from an early age, and its repercussions for the city. He also confirmed the City Council’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship with activities such as The Big Idea, which serve as a breeding ground to position the city as an international benchmark in terms of innovation and technology.

To participate in the competition, students also had the option of proposing creative and innovative ideas to respond to different challenges proposed by both public and private companies.

On behalf of Lipasam, Lucrecio Fernández presented the award; on behalf of Tussam, Rubén García; and for Emasesa, José María Molina. The event was also attended by representatives of each of the private companies that have collaborated in the competition: Ikono, Gamco, Qamarero, Aidea Legal and Bracelit.

During the event, David Troya gave a talk in which he highlighted the value of technological entrepreneurship and its future job opportunities. He encouraged the attendees to work on their entrepreneurial skills that will allow them to found technological startups that can change the world from our city.

The students received a diploma of participation in recognition of their efforts, and the schools that have disseminated this activity were awarded a diploma accrediting their commitment to training their students to encourage their entrepreneurial spirit.

All these students will participate in the programmes that will be developed by La Fábrica de Sevilla to attract talent and develop new ideas, where they will be provided with tools and resources to promote their projects.
